HG5 Padel wanted to create practical facilities alongside its new padel courts at Poplars Farm in Knaresborough.

We supplied two new 20ft shipping containers and converted them into bespoke facilities for players and visitors.

HG5 Padel is based at Poplars Farm, Ferrensby, near Knaresborough, where owner Andrew Cumming has developed the site as part of his wider approach to farm diversification. Alongside the working farm, Poplars Farm is also home to the established Poplars Self Storage facility, making use of previously underused land on the site.

Now he’s moved on to his next venture, HG5 Padel, making use of an empty barn at Poplars Farm to create two new padel courts. With the site’s remote location, HG5 Padel also needed practical facilities for players to change, relax and access refreshments, making on-site facilities an important part of the new venture.

Cleveland supplied two new 20ft (one trip) shipping containers, which were converted and fitted out to suit the requirements of the site.

Shipping container changing room for padel courts

The first container was converted into two separate changing rooms using a 50/50 internal partition. One half provides a female changing room and the other a male changing room.

Both areas were fitted with heaters, benches and hooks providing the practical features needed for players using the padel courts.

The finished container provides HG5 Padel with changing facilities for players, making use of the available space within the barn.

The conversion also included several modifications from our Cleveland XTRAS range, including ply lining, electrics and lighting, alongside the additional fittings required to make the containers ready for use.

I purchased two containers for our yard and was impressed with the quality, competitive price and level of service.

The process was easy from start to finish. I spoke to someone over the phone, and a member of the team visited to make sure we could accommodate the delivery. Once that was confirmed, everything went very smoothly.

Bespoke shipping container conversion for padel facilities

The second 20ft shipping container was also ply lined and fitted with electrics and lighting before being converted into a dedicated refreshment area for HG5 Padel.

Inside, the container features a coffee station, vending machine and padel equipment, giving players a convenient place to grab refreshments and access equipment before or after a game.

The refreshment area complements the container changing rooms and wider padel court facilities at Poplars Farm, providing HG5 Padel with additional amenities without the need for a separate permanent building. Both containers were supplied as new (one trip) units and purchased by HG5 Padel rather than hired. The project is an example of how a bespoke shipping container conversion can provide practical facilities for sports and leisure venues, including changing rooms and refreshment areas alongside padel courts.

We have recently built two new padel courts and needed facilities for changing rooms and vending machines. The containers have been a great success and have worked really well for what we needed.

I've been very pleased with my experience working with Cleveland Containers. The team have been friendly and polite throughout, and I look forward to working with them again in the future.
